Mash Attack

Ska / Punk / Rock

Bio

Mash Attack are a Hampshire-based band blending ska, rock, and punk — fast basslines, sharp guitar riffs, punchy horns, and high-energy dual vocals. Think early RX Bandits, Howard’s Alias, Farse, and Capdown, with a stage presence reminiscent of Lightyear. After releasing their debut Learn and Evolve, the band hit the road hard, selling over 1,000 CDs on tour.

Over the years, with a few lineup changes and countless gigs, Mash Attack have shared stages with some of the scene’s finest — [Spunge], Fandangle, Mouthwash, Babar Luck, Pepper, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Sonic Boom Six, The JB Conspiracy, 4FT Fingers, Citizen Fish, Mike TV, Dirty Sanchez, The Flatliners, and OK Pilot — as well as incredible unsigned acts including More Than Normal, Near The Knuckle, Beat The Red Light, The Liability’s, ALMEIDA, and many more.

The band have received regular airplay on student radio stations across Southampton, Bournemouth, and New Quay, and have been featured in local and regional fanzines including Southampton Music, which reaches over 10,000 music fans across the Hampshire alternative scene. They were named “Band of the Week” on Ska Mutiny, and their Learn and Evolve EP sold over 1,000 copies within three months of its release in October 2009.

Mash Attack pride themselves on a strong DIY ethic — putting on explosive live shows, supporting local promoters and venues, and ensuring fans always get their money’s worth. They self-promote, organise DIY events, and help other bands do the same.

The band have never chased profit from their music. They’ve given away thousands of CDs, stickers, and badges, pouring everything into their art. From their first headline tour in February 2009 to the present day, Mash Attack remain driven by passion, energy, and a love for the music that brought them together.
